Sarah Boyall

PhD Student
University of Leeds

Sarah graduated from the University of Leeds in 2020 with a first in Chemistry (MChem). During her undergraduate degree, she completed a summer placement with Dr Charlotte Willans investigating how the shape of various flow channels affected the reaction conversion in an electrochemical flow reactor. Throughout Sarah’s MChem project, she developed a continuous flow system that could produce bimetallic nanoparticles made of gold and silver for their use in catalytic reactions under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Chamberlain. Sarah is now carrying out her PhD with Prof. Thomas Chamberlain, Prof. Richard Bourne, Prof. Frans Muller and Dr Adam Clayton in producing a continuous flow system that uses carbon nanoreactor supported nanoparticle catalysts, for the self-optimisation of heterogenous reduction reactions sponsored by AstraZeneca.
