Schaumiya Suresh
PhD Student
University of Leeds
Schaumiya graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Leeds in 2024, completing an integrated Master’s in Medicinal Chemistry (MChem, BSc). During her undergraduate degree, she undertook an industrial placement at GSK in the Global Supply Chain, where she worked as an analytical chemist. She worked on analysing residual contamination on production equipment surfaces, ensuring compliance with residual limits using HPLC analysis. She completed her MChem project under the supervision of Prof. Richard Bourne, within the Institute of Process Research and Development, where her research focused on comparing self-optimisation and kinetic modelling approaches for a SNAr reaction in two different automated flow reactor platforms. Schaumiya is now pursuing her PhD with Dr Adam Clayton and Prof. Richard Bourne in developing an automated reaction screening platform using flow chemistry and machine learning to optimise pharmaceutical processes, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and the University of Liverpool.
